Metacognition

Metacognition is thinking about thinking. So this means that when we think of the way we think we are thinking about the ways we think or even maybe what we think about and why. Using the different hemispheres of our brain like we learned in the Ted talk can help us understand what we think about. We have a right and a left hemisphere of our brain and both sides of the brain control various functions of our brain to help it run more efficient. We use our left side of the brain for language and math and it helps us dream about the past and the future. The left side of the brain is more analytical than the right. We as humans all think differently than one another for example, there is a bottom-up thinker and a top-down thinker. There are different characteristics in order to figure out what kind of thinker you are. A bottom-up thinker is instinctual and makes sense of phenomena, and they are reductionist. While top-down thinkers are basically when a person learns or thinks back from personal experiences, and they think more of a formal, and symbolic nature. We all have our own brains and our own thoughts within our brains so all of our thoughts can be different from others. We as humans have the ability to disconnect or connect to our world in such a way we can get caught up in our own thoughts. Many people can be going through the same struggle but they all might go different routes on how exactly they are going to solve the problem. This can categorize the people who think out the box and the people who tend to play it safe instead of living on the edge and taking a shot at something that they aren't sure about. People have different views and opinions of how they see the world so their thoughts can play a big attribute to our society.
