If the author from This
Is Your Brain On Art and Jill Bolte Taylor actually sat down and had dinner
together I think there would be a little bit of controversy. Jill Bolte Taylor
talks about in her video how the two hemispheres of the brains are separate but
they must work together for us to live our lives like everyone else. In the article
the author focuses more on how outside people can understand abstract art
better than another artist. He goes on to talk about how to some people
abstract art can seem confusing and have no motive but to the neurologist in
the article he could understand the motive. I believe that if these two sat
down together and discussed what each of them think I think that at first there
would be some confusion but I think that they would come to an understanding later.
Jill would probably tell him how our right hemisphere is the creative part of
us and how the left is the analytical part of us. I think they would talk about
how the hemispheres effect how some people view art like if they are more
analytical they might not understand abstract art. These two people are very
smart and I believe they would have a great conversation if they sat down for
dinner together.
I feel like in theory they would have a great conversation this I can agree with. However I believe also that that confusion will be in part of because the differences in what exactly they were studying. I mean the two main topics have to do with 2 types of thinking for the brain, but the way they research their thinking are vastly different. Going from Art to trying to function while having a stroke. However I really do love when you talked about how they would talk about how some people view art like if they are more analytical they might not understand abstract art, that was really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this post because I also think they both have great ideas about how people view the world. I think that since they are both very smart mature people, they would come to a conclusion that they both have very strong points and would be open to thinking about the world in both the artistic way, and the straight forward way. I think the tension could get a little high in this situation because it is a topic they both strongly feel about. I also love the point you made about Taylor explaining to Charney about how the two different hemispheres can affect the way you view art and think outside of the box.
